The seminar focused on the amendments and proposed changes to IAS 30 including the recently issued IFRS 9; financial instruments, classification and measurement.
The seminar discussed various facets of the new standards and proposed changes to the existing standards which will impact the financial reporting of business in Qatar.
Firas Qoussous, assurance technical partner at Ernst & Young Qatar, outlined the impact these changes could have on the financial statements of companies in the country especially in the financial services industry.
“The seminar was attended by key finance executives from major corporations in Qatar in the financial and non-financial service sectors and presented a platform for the participants to discuss the challenges in implementing ever changing standards and issues involving financial statements presentation and disclosure,” the official said.
